Curcumin

Curcumin is a potent antioxidant. Its use in traditional Indian medicine has been practiced for thousands of years. Although it is more commonly known to us as a spice, it should be noted that it possesses many medicinal properties. Kurkumin contains several curcuminoids – demethoxycurcumin and bisdemethoxycurcumin – which give this spice its characteristic intense yellow color.

Description

In Asian countries, turmeric has been used since ancient times not only in cooking but also for its healing properties in treating wounds and skin diseases, including inflammatory conditions and various types of eruptions.

In medicine, various studies have been conducted on the use of curcumin since 1949, which demonstrate that it contains various biologically active substances with antibacterial properties. These studies have also been published in several press releases. These publications prompted further research, which demonstrated that turmeric has significant anti-inflammatory properties.

Numerous studies conducted on animal and human tissue cultures confirm that curcumin not only acts on the inflammatory process in the body by suppressing it but also promotes the activation of anti-inflammatory factors. For this reason, turmeric is widely used in the treatment of various chronic inflammatory diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease, allergies, cardiovascular diseases, and even cancer. Currently, more than 40 different studies are being conducted in the United States to obtain results on the effectiveness of turmeric in treating various diseases.

Curcumin is known as a substance with practically no adverse side effects; most people tolerate it well, even when the daily dose reaches 10 grams or more.

Unfortunately, the external use of curcumin is somewhat hindered by its characteristic bright yellow color, which leaves colored stains on the skin and clothing. Another important point to note is its poor absorption by the body through the gastrointestinal tract. Therefore, the delivery of this substance to target organs is delayed. However, products developed by pharmaceutical companies are designed to overcome these shortcomings and achieve maximum effectiveness of curcumin.
