Curcumin, extracted from Indian turmeric, belongs to the ginger family and is known as a spice in Asian countries. It is this substance that gives curry its characteristic yellow color. Numerous studies have proven the choleretic, immunomodulatory, antioxidant, antitumor, antiseptic, analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties of curcumin.

Curcudex® 45 is a special water-soluble curcumin-cyclodextrin complex, the absorption capacity of which is 45 times higher compared to conventional turmeric extracts (420 mg Curcudex® corresponds to 3 g of turmeric powder). Cyclodextrins are ring-shaped starch degradation products consisting of α-1,4-glycosidic-linked glucose molecule compounds. They have a three-dimensional donut-shaped structure with a lipophilic cavity and a hydrophilic outer surface. Cyclodextrins are able to capture non-polar organic substances, making them water-soluble and more bioavailable. They also protect the encapsulated substance from oxidation, light, and moisture, allowing the substance to be released over a longer period of time.
