Description

Shogaol is a biologically active compound found in ginger roots. Shogaol is obtained by heating ginger at high temperatures. In addition to shogaol, ginger extract contains another chemical compound called zingerone, which acts as an antioxidant and can also positively affect metabolism.

Numerous scientific studies have been conducted to determine the effectiveness of using ginger compounds and their applications. It is known that shogaol has anti-cancer properties and is used to alleviate the side effects of chemotherapy. Studies on animals have shown that compounds found in ginger suppress the proliferation of cancer stem cells, inhibit neoangiogenesis (the formation of new blood vessels in cancerous tissues), and promote apoptosis – the natural cell death of cancer cells. Studies conducted in China and Korea and their results indicate that ginger compounds significantly improve the quality of life for patients with breast and endometrial cancer. It has also been found that metabolites of substances found in ginger roots form a substance K in the colon, which is important in the treatment of colorectal cancer. Meanwhile, the American Cancer Research Institute notes that ginger significantly reduces the fatigue caused by cancer intoxication.

Ginger also has significant anti-inflammatory properties, making it recommended for the treatment of ulcerative colitis.

The active ingredients in ginger are also recommended for the treatment of ischemia, diabetes, and chronic infections.

Patients generally tolerate all ginger preparations well, and it is known that ginger grown in the Americas (Panax qiunquefolius) can lower blood sugar levels in diabetic patients.
